Iam researching my partner's family tree and she had a concentration of family members of the name"Beattie" in Ness in the 1800's. Many of them were miners, dock workers, two gardeners. Also two were boot repairers, both "lame", so maybe was there a special work place for boot repairers. Obviously any search for Ness brings up almost nothing but Ness Gardens. Does anyone have any information concerning the History of Ness and in particular any information of the Beattie family?
Neston library were doing an exhibition on the mines at ness so this may be a good source of information (i've attached a link with details)http://www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/leisure_culture_and_tourism/libraries/nearest_library/neston_library.aspx
