Hi all.

I have no idea when it comes to CB Radio's so will need abit of help.
I am after one that can be used in a car and possibly one at home too.

If anyone has one for sale, or can give me information on them then Fantastic !

Thanks

Mark

The old cb radio's used the am frequency which they have in america and so were illegal in this country. The modern sets in this country now use the fm frequency and so are legal. So look for a fm unit. A mobile one is fine for home if you have a 12 volt power supply or spare car battery. You need a cb ariel and swr meter. Put the meter in between the two and adjust the tuning on the ariel to get the lowest reading. If you don't do this you will blow the output from transmitting with an untuned ariel. Then pick a nickname (handle) to use. Have a look on ebay, they have a few.

Yeah i have been looking on Ebay, but don't like using it for anything over £10 (Just incase someone decides to not send the item)
I would rather pay cash on collection so i know i get the product / item smile

Thank you ALOT for the information !!!
You have saved me from blowing the future output smile

The CB is at my mothers house at the moment as i moved out a while back it is a Cobra 148 and it it isn't just a basic 40 channel CB, this one you can speak to people around the world.
The mic that comes with it has a roger bleep with the tone that most cobra CBs make.

There is one on ebay at the moment in a bid at £51.01 with 2 days left so ile take £40

What voltage is it (so i know if i can use it in a car)
And does it come with an ariel ?

It sounds cheap to me.
But hopefully someone with abit more know how can help my decision

smile

No it doesn't come with a aerial as i have the aerial on the side of my mothers house which is a sirio 827 aerial but if you wanted that then you would need to get someone to take it down as it is massive.

Not sure on the voltage maybe someone on here will know.

The aerial is £89.95 on this site so i would take £25, but i do need to say again it is massive massive lol, with ground planes.

The CB has FM, AM, USB, LSB, and others im not sure of.
