Pleasuredrome and Ruperts reunion - are you old enough to remember?

A SECOND reunion of former staff and regulars at Birkenhead clubs Pleasuredrome and Ruperts will take place on Saturday, February 6.

Organiser Louisa Blake said the success of the last get-together last year made her determined to bring everyone together again.

The Pleasuredrome was on Hinson Street - but it was eventually knocked down to make way for a new office block and car park, ironically now the home of your Globe team.

Ruperts, which was nearby on Argyle Street, is now a solicitor's office.

Louisa said: "I still get a buzz when I think about it - I would like to thank everyone who made the last reunion such a success.

"I would like people to log on to our reunion Facebook site and say if they can attend, and maybe make suggestions for the playlist as well as write some memories and funny stories.

"I am making a collage of original day photos alongside those from the last reunion and will be making memory mats again!

"I really hope it's as much fun as the last one and I am really looking forward to it."

The reunion will be held at @75 on Argylle Street, Birkenhead.

It opens its 80s and 90s doors at 9.30pm and will kick it's last hardened fans out at 3.30am.

Louisa added: "It will be pay on the door, only £5, and strictly over 30s and people who truly spent time in either venue or worked for them.

"We have managed to secure the legendary Mr Derek Kaye as the DJ for the night which I am very excited about!

"There has been a lot of interest since the success of the last reunion when 300 people turned up on a wet Bank Holiday Sunday.

"It was fantastic to see people I had searched for through the Wirral Globe turned up including Gregg Fox, Ian Wilson and Tony Byrne.

"I am still desperately seeking Andy Palmer who managed Atmosphere and John Birt, as well as Rupert Steele one of our amazingdDancers.

"I would also like to find Craig Dulson and Craig Thompson - some of our hardened regulars!

"Andy Acid man turned up for the last one which was great to see as did the lovely Phil Archer Jones who managed Rupert's.

"I would also like Trevor, Billy Jones, Graham, Terry O'Neil and Gerry who were all doormen at one point to turn up.

"I am working very hard to make this as good if not better than the last one which was a truly memorable night.

"It was great to hear people screaming when old faces turned up and seeing people they had not seen for 20 years.

"Dave Graham and Derek Kaye were great hits and people were really pleased to see them. Derek Lacy one of the most memorable dancers along with Karen Melville, Rachel Brown and Karen Lawrence and the lovely Letitia and Mandy meant we had an almost complete troupe of dancer.

"And they have still got it. Paul Beecham of Michael Jackson Thriller Barshow fame also turned up as did many staff and regulars from both venues.

"This time we are hoping some Atmosphere and Bonkers staff will be joining us."

I think you'll find it wasn't anyone on here that has organised it, it's just been posted in case anyone wanted to go.

Do you honestly think that the two people that died would want such a vitriolic post made in their names? It's sad that people die but it's part of life unfortunately frown

Maybe some of the people that are intending to go knew the guys you mention and are going to celebrate their memory.
