But don't worry, for once in our lifetime, it's in a good way!

The boards have said 105.9 for unleaded for days, I calls in to get a full tank just before and its 102.9... wonder if they are paying the new tax level on that

Nice one thumbsup

a work colleague has just had a small problem with his car ,the engine management light came on in his saxo,he took it to a garage in moreton and the guy hooked it up to some sort of techno machine and after a couple of minutes he has asked if my colleague had bought his fuel at tesco in bidston to which he replied he had on the friday(this was on tuesday).the light had come on just after he put fuel in.the mechanic told him to go to another garage and put a least twenty quids worth of good petrol in as tesco has water in it which is getting in because it is built on boggy ground.he did this and the engine light no longer comes on.the mechanic obviously has heard of this before without any prompting from my mate..anyone else had problems with bidston tesco fuel.

Yeah, ive known about this for years, but people swear blind it doesnt happen. My mate had a bike a few years back, brand new, and after 15 months or so it started misfiring. He took it into the dealer (cant remember who, was local though) and they booked it in for inspection.

It turned out he had water in the fuel system. They asked him had he been using Tesco for his fuel. He had started using them about 6 months prior to this cos his Tesco credit card gave him money off or summit like that.

They said they had seen a few cases where people had water in the fuel system and in every case, they had been regular customers of Tesco/mainly used Tesco. Obviously they could'nt officially blame Tesco, but so far as to say, it does seem water is in Tesco fuel somehow.

Some people dismiss the idea altogether, others say it is because Tesco water the fuel down, however the most plausable theory I have heard is that Tesco (or Greenergy or whoever it is that Tesco own and use to source and transport fuel) use the same tankers for both diesel and petrol transportation, whereas other retailers/companies use seperate tankers. When the tankers are going to carry say derv after delivering a load of petrol, they flush through the tanker with water, or a water based fluid, to clean out the tanker. And there must somehow be excess water left in the tanker, sometimes at dangerous levels.

Im not sure if any of this is true, but it seems more than a co-incidence to me, that quite a few people have had/know people that have had, problems relating to water supposedly being added to Tesco fuel, whereas you don't here of it from other big brands?

Hmmmm think

Diesel and petrol can be stored in the different tanks. Obviousley at different times.

I also got told the reason Supermarket Fuel is cheaper than brand fuel (BP) in this case that it is due to an additive mixed when filling the tanker (petrol)

Bp supply Sainsbury's. The smallest tank on them BP lorry's are 3500litres, very little is cross contaminated.

Also on petrol station tanks you have a water alarm, this even tells you how much (if any) water their is.

Petrol needs to vent, and sometimes rain water gets into the vent. Trading Standards always takes samples, and tests it, it's a very rare occurance.

I've always used Tesco to fill up. Apart from when i'm away and there is no tesco...

I've never had a problem with their Unleaded/Super or Diesel...
