Peter Jackson's sci-fi thriller District 9 has topped the UK box office chart on its first week of release with £2.8 million.
Last week's number one The Final Destination falls to second place with £1.9 million, while rom-com 500 Days Of Summer enters at three.
Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds slips to fourth and Adam Sandler's Funny People drops two spots to fifth.
Meanwhile, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince spends another week inside the Top 10 at nine.

Bums on seats during the first week of a film is no reflection of how good a film is, bums on seats in the third or forth week gives a better idea, how good a film may be.

The Final Destination 3D is worth a watch, don't think it would be upto much in standard though, you can tell why its the final one in the series, they have completely run out of idea's. In 3D though, its another matter!

Just watched District 9 tonight.
I really did enjoy the film tbh... the Trailers do a good job of giving absolutely nothing away about the storyline.
Peter Jacksons best film in my eyes, mainly because I hated King Kong and absolutly, utterly 100% despise the entire Lord of the Rings Faccard !!
