hold the off button for seven seconds it should turn it off then restart in safe mode and you should be able to sort from there Success, thank you very much, I award you the Iron cross with oak leaf cluster. Cheers.

When laptops close the lid they sometime lean on to a tiny switch which is in effect a sleep button / standby button.
Close the lid any you may see where this switch is.
Mines close to the top of my keyboard.
But just make sure its not stuck or something is jamming it.
