Wallasey Churches Together is staging another ‘Praise in the Park’. This major open-air Christian event will take place in the bandstand area of Vale Park on Pentecost Sunday, 31st May, from 2.30 p.m. There will be music and singing - lots of it - drama and dance, so put the date in your diary. Hopefully the weather will be good and the deck chairs out. If you are passing by just pop down to the park, everyone is welcome. bananalove

I'll be revising and recovering from last night I'm afraid. There's been some kind of race going on along the front today, lots of sweaty people with numbers on their chests and medals round their necks, not to mention the man on the speaker system.

It will be the Mersey Tunnel 10K race

Wirral roads to close during next weekend's tunnel 10k

Wirral roads to close during next weekend's tunnel 10k

ROADS near to the Wallasey Tunnel will be closed to traffic for a short time during next weekend's tunnel 10k.

Around 2,000 runners will be taking part in the race next Sunday, May 31, raising funds for St John's Hospice and RNLI.

The event starts in Pall Mall, Liverpool City Centre at 10am and participants will pass through the Kingsway/Wallasey Tunnel.

Wirral roads will be affected between 8.30am and 11am after which time the roads will be reopened to traffic.

Runners will exit the tunnel via Oakdale Road and continue along Dock Road and Birkenhead Road, passing the Wallasey Ferry Terminal to access the Egremont Promenade.

The finish line is at the other end of the Promenade at New Brighton.

The Dock Road has a partial closure - it is not closed to traffic heading toward the Wallasey Tunnel from Four Bridges/Tower Road.

Birkenhead Road is closed from Four Bridges to the Ferry Terminal but is accessible to residents via Kelvin Road at all times.

A full diversionary route will be in operation whilst the race is in progress.

There were a few good youth events. The weather gorgeous and a free deck chair. Even the words to the song were included on the day. There was a good crowd, all supporting the young people. It was a brill experience for them as some had never been in plays in public and did really well. Hope those who went did enjoy the lovely day in the park, even with the boring adults and the ??singer?
