Police say the car hit the coach which was travelling in the opposite direction.

Firefighters helped remove the driver from the vehicle.

The coach driver and two passengers were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The 25-year-old driver has not yet been named.

Witnesses can call 0151 777 5771 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
