Scottish singer Susan Boyle has secured a place in the final of ITV's Britain's Got Talent, after performing live on television for the first time.

The 48-year-old from West Lothian became a worldwide sensation after her audition performance of I Dreamed A Dream was screened last month. Sunday evening's show was the first of five nightly ITV1 shows until Saturday.

Also through to the final were Dance group Diversity, with 10-year-old Natalie Okri voted out by the judges.

When Ms Boyle heard the result of the public vote - after her rendition of Memory from the musical, Cats - she gave a victory dance for the studio audience.

When the show's hosts, Ant and Dec, asked her how she had coped with the pressure, she said: "What pressure, I really enjoyed myself, I enjoyed every second. I'd do it again!"

Ms Boyle's first appearance on the television talent show received more than 58 million hits on the internet site, YouTube.

That earned her a number of famous fans, including rock musician Jon Bon Jovi and actress Demi Moore. She has also been interviewed on American television shows Oprah and Larry King.

Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle has inspired cartoon slacker Homer Simpson to audition for a talent show in The Simpsons.

In the online clip, Homer appears before judge Simon Cowell, saying "My name is Homer Simpson, I'm 39 years old and, well, I've never been kissed."

He adds: "My dream is to be a great singer like Susan Boyle."

She was previously mentioned in cult US cartoon show South Park.

Last week, she appeared on a special episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Her appearance in The Simpsons video extra, Springfield's Got Talent, is part of the show's 20th-anniversary season.

Lets see if Scotland can win Britains Got Talent, after all they won the X Factor with Leon. Susan rocks.

i so wanted faces of disco to go through, i would have happily sacrificed susan boyle to let them and diversity go through, we all know that susan is goona come good out of this competition after all her publicity.

its also kind of annoying because it seems like we already have the winner this year

Faces of Disco and Diversity should have gone through.

I want the welsh fella to win. Susan not a foregone conclusion-a lot of people may not vote for her assuming she already won!

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion at all.
Her 'wow' factor was the surprise element - the contrast between her appearance and her voice and that has gone now. I didn't think she was as good last night as she was before and I also think there's a whole lot more to her than meets the eye - is she a teeny bit mad (as in nice crazy, not in a horrid way)?
I so hope Diversity get through although I loved Flawless as well, I just think the Diversity is not just a dance group and so clever...........

Oh........ and I need to get a life

im not too keen on her anymore, now that i know that all the other contestants dont really have a fighting chance against her. i also think that she knows what she is doing when she acts daft and that she could have been put there just to give some kind of hope to the country like the judges said. i just guess that itv didint expect there to be so much media about her, so if they had already decided to rig the votes (which we all know they love doing) its all back fired on them.

im glad that Piers finally realised what a idiot he was for letting Darth Jackson through to the semi finals, there were much more talented people than him.

and i also need to get a life haha
