YUP - not sure may be at Liverpool Entrance
Is the camera angle from the entrance of the Tunnel?
Tis from Chester Street/New Chester Road

There was an Obelisk at each end of the tunnel, the Birkenhead one was moved to just beside the A41 exit road from the tunnel, it only about 25 yards from being directly in line with the tunnel.

Details of the lighting columns or obelisks.
I'm pretty sure that the one pictured here, at the Liverpool end, has been removed & almost certainly destroyed.

I remember one of the traders known as "Eli" and boy could that man sell stuff. Was actually there when he was selling some jumpers and as he held it up he saw there was only one arm on it. He knocked some money off the price and still sold it to a woman whose fellah only had one arm. Brilliant! He always had a huge crowd around him, as much for the entertainment as anything else. Wish I could remember more but I was only a youngster then.

Eli, used to determine the size of a woman's bra by putting it on his head, never got that size wrong neither. It was like watching a free comedy show.

I well remember the trader selling china and of cause Eli but that was all at the opposite end of the market from the Haymarket. The Haymarket was at the Conway Street end of Hamilton Street. If you can picture Hamilton Street Conway Street and Grange Road that would be the Haymarket Square. It all changed when the flyovers were built, that was when the Needle was moved. A good guide to the location of the market are the two arches at the entrance to the tunnel which are still there.
