Houses in Allerton and Huyton come under attack from gun thugs
A GATED south Liverpool cul-de-sac was sealed off by police today after shots were fired at a house.
Cedar Close, opposite the side entrance to Calderstones Park, was taped off after three shots were fired late last night.
No-one was injured in the 11pm attack in the affluent Allerton neighbourhood.
Police were today hunting three men, seen with scarves around their faces, racing away from the scene in a silver saloon car shortly after the shots rang out.
At the moment police said they are not linking the attack to any other recent shootings. But they are still investigating possible motives.
The gates of the cul-de-sac are thought to have been left open so council binmen could collect rubbish today.
Residents were allowed past the police cordon but members of the public were stopped from approaching the scene.
Police were today also investigating a second shooting last night.
At around the same time, 11pm, a house in Nyland Road, Huyton, was blasted.
At least four shots were fired at the front of the house.
A number are thought to have pierced the downstairs windows.
Police said it is lucky no-one was hurt in the shooting.
Nyland Road has been the scene of attacks blamed on local teenage gangs.
It is thought to be the third shooting in recent years and industrial fireworks have been used as bombs in the past.
Police stepped up high visibility patrols in both areas of the city.
