11 confess ‘crash for cash’ insurance scam
ELEVEN people have admitted being involved in a “crash for cash” insurance scam.
The group all admitted conspiring to defraud Allianz Insurance by making claims for fictitious traffic accidents during 2005.
They were among 33 people arrested following a complex three-year fraud investigation by Merseyside Police’s crime operations unit.
The 22 other people charged also appeared at Liverpool crown court and denied conspiracy to defraud. The court heard they maintain the accidents were genuine and any insurance claims had been entirely legitimate.
