A kite surfer was rescued by lifeboat crews after getting into difficulties off the Wirral coastline.

The man, who is in his 30s, was rescued by the RNLI off New Brighton at about 1415 GMT.

He was picked up by an offshore boat from Hoylake lifeboat station, before being transferred to an ambulance by an inshore boat.

The man is being treated in Arrowe Park Hospital where he is said to be suffering from hypothermia.
