Any idea why the spelling of authorised is the American "authorized"?

ANyone got any ideas why dog licensing was abolished in 1987? Apparently the money used to go to the local authority. Although it was only 37p lol not sure it would keep a library open.

I think there was more dogs than licences, no one bothered to get one. would have cost to much to police.

I remember that when you could get a dog licence from the Post Office for 7/6d you could also get a gun licence from there for 10/-. This was for a shotgun. not a rifle; you still had to apply for a firearms certificate for a rifle. I had my first firearms certificate in 1966 for a .22 rifle for vermin destruction. I had about 30 acres of land cleared for the use of a .22 rifle; thing was, in those days, Mr.Plod didn't know the difference between .22 rimfire & .22 centre fire, or didn't care. (some of you may understand).

licensing think

Funny you should mention this but one of my mates has just been told he has to pay for a licence to have the radio on in his garage.

£100 apparently due to broadcasting laws on artists music?

I remember hearing something about that Ste - it was someone like Bob Geldof or Feargal Sharkey saying that it was unfair that artists did not get the royalties from their songs being played. I think it covers supermarket music and even lift music & "on hold" music too.
