ANPR teams check against the Police National Computer, the Motor Insurance Database and the DVLA database. They can only go on the information that they have. It may be the MID that are to blame, or more likely the DVLA.

If a vehicle is not taxed or insured, reported stolen or lost, or if the keeper of the vehicle is wanted by the police for any other crimes, they will be stopped and further checks will be made. Sometimes the computer databases get it wrong i.e. information not on the system, which in turn comes back to human error, but as far as I know, and I'm sure someone will know, it's not actually the Police that input the information.

If you fit into the category of fleet or motor trade policyholder, or you drive a vehicle covered by one of these policies, then you need to ensure your vehicle details are on the MID. I'd check that first mate!!

Sorry you got tugged Ste, but you can't tar them all with the same brush hon.

I'm sure that once it's cleared up, you'll be fine. Everything appears to be in order mate. If you want to make sure your details are on the MID and you don't know how (you probably do, but just in case), this is where you find out how to do it http://www.miic.org.uk/index.html

I still think it's unfair to tar all with the same brush, there's good and bad in every job, and like I say, they can only go on what's on the computer database. That's the reason you probably got pinged.

Probably mate.

He sounds like a bit of a c*ck.

Trade insurance sometimes doesnt show up on the MID that the car is insured.

If in doubt, check - askmid.co.uk

I ve had this b4 too ste, a real bugger mate, I almost had my van taken from me, but luckily the copper allowed me to phone my insurance (which thank god was open) and listen to them say....yes he is insured.

The copper was using his disgression, and unfortunately, it sounds like he used a bad one.

Uncertainty or not knowing causes depression, Im happy because I know I'm going to die one day!
