Can anyone tell me if I can take the music from an MP4 and change it over to MP3 so that I can put it on my MP3 player?

Some of the songs I want I can only get as an MP4, unless I use another music downloading site, and poor Gerald (the hamster that powers the hard drive and all the other gubbins) is slow enough as it is!

Many thanks Guys and Girls

MP4 is video and MP3 is audio, so do you intend to rip the music off a video? I think dBPowerAmp will convert from MP4 to MP3, it is fast and programmed to make use of HT and dual core.

You can get the software from http://www.xcellweb.net/downloads/dMC%20dbPowerAMP%20R12.1.zip

You may need to download the MP4 codec from http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm, can't remember if the download includes all the code packs (think it does).

Then it should be pretty easy to use.

Just had this problem myself, with some M4A files.

Window's wont DLL it, but VLC can play these files out of the box, so to speak.

Also try Adobe Audition 3, awesome program, lets you rip anything from any file (music, video etc) and edit it, convert to dts etc.

If you want a copy i have it although it can be quite hard to understand for novices it wont be long before you master its capabilities smile

Great for making your own ringtones ect smile

How does it convert stereo to DTS? DTS has to be recorded as such? Besides which, you would need a real DTS decoder (expensive) to be able to channel the sound correctly lol. A bog standard home audio AC3 decoder won't do it unless its decent kit, even if it has a DTS compatible logo on the outside lol.

You would also need a bit rate in excess of 1536Kbps, which in turn is in excess of even CDDA.

confused

Btw, can it rip MPC files, there was an issue with dBPowerAmp with converting these to AAC files, so I have not been able to convert a few albums I have. I have to play them in VLC atm because Winamp 2 can't play MPC files.

Might give it another go when I get around to reinstalling it lol.

Most DVD players have dts encoders and the amps aren`t as expensive as they used to be.

Don`t know how it converts to DTS but it works, i tried it using a pink floyd album and had a video tutorial to go by, it takes a long time but its worth it and does work wink

They dont have full DTS decoders mate, as they cost a lot of money, the license costs on the chips is silly; what they tend to do is use software to use the AC3 decoder to do the work, but it's not true DTS. This is acceptable for the consumer market, so is endorsed by DTS themselves.

The easiest way to demonstrate it, is by increasing the volume, you should hear no hiss at all on DTS, but on 99% of DTS logo'd home kit, you do.

My Technics decoder was considered the lowest end real DTS encoder a few years back, and that's saying something lol.

Im wondering if it is encoding AC3 into DTS, because I really can't see how else it could channel the audio professionally, otherwise film studio's would'nt pay millions to have audio mastering companies do the work for them. Also, you would need S/PIDF to hear the audio anyway.

Unless you just mean it encodes into the DTS codec? In which case, it's exactly the same as the AC3 codec, and isnt the type of DTS im thinking about lol.

The best a PC could produce, without professional kit, is DPL, im not even sure if DPL2 or DPLEX can be done without the aid of the hardware encoder?
