Geez, I think it's been years since I was last on here!
I have for sale my retro cool vw caddy. It's 1.6D 5 speed 1991 H reg with 4 months tax and 10 months mot. 100% reliable and 100% rare as f***
This is no speed machine for someone who wants to tear around and race people off the lights, this is for someone who will use it as I did - throw thier surfboard/bbq/firewood/friends in the back and cruise down to the beach.
It gets 50+mpg easily and still holds motorway speeds ok. Drives spot on with good brakes and tyres (Dunlop sp's all round) and even though there's over 165k on the clock it still runs like it's just been run in - no smoke, uses little or no oil, just has a little rattle to the cambelt cover at low revs.
Bodywork's a little ratty with a number of minor dents - but to me that just says you won't be afraid to use it properly! It's great driving round cities as everyone gets out of your way!!
I've added a few parts of "nostalgic influence". Firstly, the chrome wing mirrors are off a vw camper, it also has opening front quarter windows.
The going rate for a 5spd Diesel caddy in this condition is about £1700, I'm looking for £1500-ONO it's double what I paid for it 18months ago but that's because the caddy's are following the vw camper trend of Appreciating, as opposed to depreciating! That's right, buy this and it could well be a great investment! I've also done a few rust prevention jobs on it so it should stay solid for a fair few years to come
You might see some on ebay for £1200 - these are more than likely 4spd petrols, which don't last anywhere near as long and don't keep to motorway speeds without a strong right foot. The 5spd Diesel is the one to get hence why they are worth more... well either that or a 1.8 sport but for one of them you're looking at more like £2500!
I've kept it serviced and maintined with my own hands and have really enjoyed owning it, but I have just taken on a project and I feel I need a more sensible car to be using as my daily driver.
It's to be sold with 30mm lowering springs for the front (spax uprated golf struts already fitted but with standard springs) which means just a rear axle flip would see it running nice and low
I'll also throw in a panasonic 4x50 mp3/cd player linked up to 2 pioneer 380w 6x9's in boxes behind the seats. This setup sounds incredible - especially in such a small cab!
Any questions please give me a call on 07909552380 Cheers
