At the New Brighton Rally, there was an incredible sounding Mk II Escort, being powered by a rotary engine (Like those usually seen in WWI Aircraft). I found the website maintained by the people who run the car, showing what exactly it is running etc... ![[Linked Image]](http://www.lindopmotorsport.com/images/Rotary%20Escort%20at%20Dukeries.jpg) Its pretty interesting stuff... Clicky Here Yall.... Obviously, engines like these are usually used in Mazdas (Wankel), which is what the engine in this escort is originally from.

i had one years ago with those arches on,was a bin in primer but it went sideways well an i loved it!that one got towed for no tax whilst sittin up with a duff bearing gutted!

It was amazing to hear, especially close up and on idle... Really did sound like a WWI Sopwith Camel... Duh Duh Duh... Duh Duh Duh... Duh Duh Duh..
Its an interesting way to go about things, I havent heard of many people doing Wankel Conversions, especially in rally cars.
Suppose it gives them the power they need, but with a smaller engine capacity...one way to go about the seperate engine classes I suppose as well.
