Socket 370 Celeron (aka Celeron II) - mean's it uses the same socket as a Pentium III, which you could whack a Pentium III in; far more performance and same very low heat and power usage.

Could also get a Tualatin cored P3 (1.1Ghz upwards) and these beast's have 512KB L2 cache as opposed to 256KB on the Coppermine and 128KB on the Celery.

Ah just noticed the extra 5v power rail on the mobo so it must be a S423 or S473 (preferably a 473).

Given the SATA connection's, id sit with the latter. So basically a Pentium 4 jobby.

well for what i want it do i think the chip ive got is fine.
im gonna be running tinyXP so the only programes i will be running is a media player and sat nav.
i just want it to boot up as quick as possible
just ordered a 120gb hdd and a 1gb of ram aswell.
still waiting for my touchscreen to arrive (BLOODY EBAY!)
the case is gona be made from my glove box.
its kind of tight for space in there but will be just enough to squeeze in the board, drive and power supply just!

Yes, should be fine, I just love the P3 that's all! laugh

What type of HDD did you go for in the end? I know it's not an SSD from the capacity, but did you go for a 2.5" or a 3.5" in the end??

Heh sweet man, much better with a 2.5 for power and heat dissapation.

However, the 2.5's are very shock-failiure prone due to the compacted components... so make sure you have adequate shock protection/cushioning.

Foam cushioning should be okay... did you order it off the net, or in PC World, as the cushioning on OEM hard drives should be good enough to use the base and surround cushioning.

But don't use the top cushioning as it needs somewhere for the heat to go, just make sure its as secure as possible on the cushioning.

Seagate do make 2.5" drives with shock resistance of upto 1m by using head locks and platter springs etc, however they are only available in external Freecom Toughdrives atm.

Provided you're ride isnt too rough, and you take care when going over speed humps and bumpy roads, I think you should be okay with basic cusioning.

You probably only have a matter of a year or so to wait before SSD hard drives start coming down in price considerably and I have seen 128GB/256GB drives touted in the press lately and of course 32 and 64GB are already on the market, so you're problems will then be over.
