I stopped smoking last year and would gladly spark one up to see what they had to say.

But i dont think its as its being reported IMO.
As if it was there would be a national upraor about human rights blar blar, so its probably more those spot check things they do.

I suppose there could be a human right issue, but I doubt it would come to much, as that would then set the precident about people having the human right to use a mobile phone handheld at the whelan??

whats Whelan got to do with it?

I think smoking whilst driving should be illegal. coz what happens if you drop the lit cigarette on your lap, seat or floor etc, natural reaction is to panic and try and retreive it, therefore taking your attention from your driving immediatly.

Also a few years back a freind of mine was driving down the M6 and a lit ciggy stump that some one had thrown out their car came in through his open sun roof and put a big burn hole on his rear bench.

I saw on "police camera action" or similar programme, they pulled and fined a woman for eating an apple whilst driving and I've seen allsorts myself on the M53, i.e people having a shave (not all men, lol), putting on make-up (not all woman, pmsl), reading a newspaper that is placed on the steering wheel, but the best one I've seen or is that the worst one, is someone with their foot up on the airvent next to the steering wheel and cutting their toe-nails (obviously in cruise-control) rofl.

An experienced smoker can light up with there eyes closed.

I'm sure that anyone being done for this is probably scrambling around the floor for a lighter, or reaching over into a bag or something. Which for what ever reason taking your eyes off the road for a longer period of time than you should.

Sorry about your mate waddi but we can say the same about seagulls too wink

With the Highway Code Changes, this means it can now also be
asked in your Driving Test the written part anyway. So its
making people more aware and habits will change too.

Why do cars still have ashtrays?
Why do they have (not all) Cigarette lighters?

As mentioned in the BBC report there is no Evidence to suggest that smoking at the wheel causes any more or less accidents, or something like that any ways.

I've heard about the apple one too, but i think there was more to
it like it was a huge apple and she couldn't see the road.

Its all for interpretation in my opinion.
But well over the top for apples and smokers IMO.
