Anyone else been watching this at all? I am amazed they have only put it on the BBC One and BBC Two Wales, and not the full UK channel's, surely they could find a spare timeslot.

Its about three families who are living exactly like they would have in the Wales coal mining valleys in the 1920's for 4 weeks, everything is as realistic as it can be from the 2up-2down basic houses, to the 1920's furniture and utilities, from the clothes (or rather lack of) to the jobs/activites (for instance the men have to go down a 2ft high mining shaft to work 8 hours 6 days a week).

For anyone who is interested, the website is www.bbc.co.uk/coalhouse and the series is available on BBC One Wales and BBC Two Wales, with an omnibus on Sundays and is also available on the BBC iPlayer and UK Nova will have the omnibus capped.

Here is this weeks episode list (as I say available on BBC iPlayer and BBC Wales via Sky):

Quote
Coal House Preview
Friday, 19 October - BBC One Wales, 8.30pm (repeated on BBC 2W on 22.10.07 @ 20:00)

Episode 1
Monday, 22 October - BBC One Wales, 8.30pm (repeated on BBC 2W on 23.10.07 @ 19:30)

Episode 2
Wednesday, 24 October - BBC One Wales, 8.30pm (repeated on BBC 2W on 25.10.07 @ 19:30)

Episode 3
Friday, 26 October - BBC One Wales, 8.30pm (repeated on BBC 2W on 28.10.07 @ 17:40)

Week 1 Omnibus
Sunday, 28 October - BBC One Wales, 10.15pm

Just watched Monday nights episode (Episode 4, but the iPlayer is calling it episode 5 cos of the preview episode I think), I am really enjoying this, much better then the pathetic Castaway drivel they put on earlier in the year.

This should have been a national programme, even if it was only given a timeslot on BBC Two... its really excellent.

Anyone else watching it? This weeks episodes are on BBC iPlayer of course, but I requested it on UK Nova last week, and its been capped and uploaded there too.

Seeing the women struggling, with things such as keeping the stove lit and getting enough warm water for a bath pushing them to their limits, and the men struggling for 8 hours every day down mines really shows how easy we have it nowadays!

Episode 4
Monday, 29th October - BBC One Wales, 8.30pm (repeated on BBC 2W on 30.10.07 @ 19:30)

Episode 5
Wednesday, 31st October - BBC One Wales, 8.30pm (repeated on BBC 2W on 01.11.07 @ 19:30)

Episode 6
Friday, 2nd November - BBC One Wales, 8.30pm (repeated on BBC 2W on 04.11.07 @ 17:40)

Week 2 Omnibus
Sunday, 4th November - BBC One Wales, 10.15pm (also on BBC 2 UK now at 17:55 as well!)

There is also some special episodes over the next two weeks, looking at how life was in the 1920's for people in Britain, all carrying the "Coal House" title, so look out for them.

If anyone is interested but hasnt watched it, I can get all the episodes off UK Nova for you.

If you want to watch episode 3, its still available on the iPlayer, go to last fridays listings and it will be there. Only one day left to download it lol.

So then you can have episode 3, 4 and 5, and 6 will be available tomorrow (as in Friday).

Unfortunatly, the episodes previous to this have all expired and they never put the Sunday omnibus onto the iPlayer lol, gutted!

id get em whilst ye can, remember they have a 30 day expiry on em, so ye can watch em at any time once ye have em downloaded, if you start with episode 3 and decide ye like it, ye can watch almost the full series then, and if ye dont like it, it aint cost ye nout and nothing ventured nothing gained hehe.

Thats what I do, download things, and sometimes have half a series on me laptop before I even remember to watch it lol. Then when I have time, or am bored, just look at the iPlayer or UK Nova downloads instead of the Sky+ nowadays, and find summit good to watch lol.

Its the final week this week, and here is the schedule... again, it will be available on the BBC iPlayer for peeps who forget/havent got access to BBC Wales on Sky. The iPlayer is likely to list the episodes as 8 onwards as its recognised the "preview" episode as episode 1 for some reason.

Were you gettin 12 and 13 from lol, officially it only went upto 11, but the iPlayer got things mixed up so that thinks it went up to 11.

The final one should be 11.

On UK Nova, they only have 8 (episode 9 isnt up yet).

I shall have to look on the iPlayer and find out whats goin on lol.

You enjoyin it then Pomp?

I think the BBC are gay, giving 12 weeks airtime to the load of drivel, bearing no resembelence to the original, and the totally rigged Castaway on BBC One, but only being able to afford 3 weeks airtime on BBC Wales for such a great social experiment as Coal House!
