He is expected to be officially unveiled at a news conference in Cardiff early next week.

Good to see he has finally chosen a club for the new season, he has been training reguarly etc to keep fit whilst he has been without a club.

I hope he has a great season and scores plenty of goals, its a pity Benitez doesnt understand a good striker when he see's one, or he wouldnt have dropped God and Crouch to play shite like Kuyt and Bellamy last season, and for sure he would have hit 20+ goals for us last season. Mind you he still managed 7 and that was with extrmely limited appearences, mainly as a sub.

Wish him the best of luck for the future, hes a living legend imho! He will always be loved by every single LFC fan, and will always be welcomed back with open arms whenever he returns to Anfield!

The best day of last year for me was the 1st February, seeing him play in a red shirt again:

gutted, hoping he would sign for Tranmere to stay local and get his coaching badges like Mcateer did.

Yeah, I was really hoping he would go to Tranmere too, but it seems they wernt interested as they didnt even bother to approach him.

Maybe they just simply didnt have anywhere near enough money to offer him, although I don't think it bothers him too much nowadays, I think he would have probably taken an even lower wage to stay local.

Him and Macca have made millions from property and race horses etc through their "Macca & Growler Partnership" lmao. So money isnt much of an issue to him.

Would have been amazing to see him playing for Rovers lol.

A lower wage, yes, (he's got enough money and business investments anyway) but a step up the ladder into a coaching or managerial role, just like Mcateer, although wheres he now?

Have you heard the rumour of "DIC" putting a bid in to buy tranmere.

Looooooooool the DIC deal was bullshit - it was something that was put on Wikipedia when they announced their interest in Liverpool last year, and all the media believed Wikipedia and started going on about it.

I was hoping they would... but realistically they couldnt as it would have contravened FA rules. Lorraine Rogers came out and publicly announced that DIC wernt looking to buy Tranmere and that it wouldnt be allowed legally anyway a few days after the Wikipedia story, but it went on for months as Wikipedia didnt remove it.

Its all hot air now anyway as DIC never bought Liverpool. The last I heard they were looking to buy another Premiership club like Aston Villa or someone like that.

oops sorry

Im so behind with my football knowledge.

Did the Americans buy Liverpool in the end?

Is it against FA rules to own two clubs? even if they are in different leagues?

Yeah the yanks bought us a few months back. Thats how we could afford Fernando Torres lol.

Its against FA rules firstly for a single person/group to have a majority shareholding in more then one of the 92 recognised FA & Football League Professional clubs.

Also, its against FA rules to have a smaller club as a direct feeder club, which is what DIC were rumored to want to use Tranmere for.

This is why reserve teams arnt allowed to compete in the proper league system. In Spain for instance, the rules are different and therefore you have Real Madrif B playing in the LFP Segunda Division B (although they can never play in the same league as their senior club).

Iirc, Peter Johnson ran into trouble a few years back because he had majority shareholdings in both Tranmere and Everton, and was forced to sell his shares in Tranmere.
