Sky has beaten City expectations by adding 90,000 customers net in the three months to June.

The media group now has 8.582m customers, up 17% year-on-year. Within those total numbers, Sky is making headway in attracting households to sign up to higher-end services: 28% of its subscriber base, equating to 2.374m households, now takes Sky+ and there are now 292,000 households taking Sky HD. TV churn stood at 12.1% on an annualised basis with the company reporting underlying churn of approximately 10.8%. It was in broadband, however, that Sky saw particularly strong growth; year on year, Sky Broadband has added 259,000 subscribers, taking the service to a total of 716,000 at the end of June.

"Our transformation continues to gather pace," said chief executive James Murdoch. "Today we are adding new customers at the fastest rate since analogue switch-off; we are adding more broadband customers than any other provider; and we are the only major residential telephony provider growing its customer base.

"Looking forward, we will continue to grow our share of an enlarged sector opportunity by delivering a superior customer experience, investing in the products and services customers want and by continuing to offer exceptional value to all our customers."

A bit late, but hmmm, it seems like Sky Broadband is really taking off now, they should have over a million customers by the end of the year, and if it continues at this rate, they should hit the 2 million mark sometime next year.

To be honest, for the millions of people who have already got and enjoy the Sky Digital TV service, there isnt really much point in choosing anyone else for broadband.

I think Sky havent marketed it too badly, although there are some area's it could have been better marketed.

Wow the figures are impressive:

Sky Digital - 8.5million+
- Of which are Sky+ - 2.3million+
- of which are SkyHD - 290,000+
Sky Broadband - 700,000+

The Sky+ figures are only set to rise dramatically over the next year or two with the recent removal of the Sky+ monthly charge.

And so much for the market being stagnated, it looks like they are gaining around 350,000 net customers per year... doesnt sound like a lot, but thats "net" customers, with their existing customer base of 8.5million, so in reality its an absolutely gigantic gain on the scale of things.

What program are you getting this on matey? Also, are you connecting via wireless or wired? Afaik Sky doesnt have, well it doesnt need such a program.

it's part of XP's network connectivity indications - a load of jargon but it's basically just the icon in the system tray that tells u if the comp is connected or not. could give this a try

Aye I realise that now, I mis-read him the first time round smack thought he may have been using 3rd party software wireless instead Wireless Zero.

If its connected via ethernet, then there shouldnt be any problems, and I dont know why you be getting it. If its connected via Wireless, its more then likely the signal is low, or its WZ messing about (it is known to be temperemental).

Either way though, its PC related and not Sky/Router related. I have had a few problems in the past with certain wirless cards on my laptop, it can be a bitch. Sometimes un-installing and then re-installing the wireless drivers can help.

Otherwise you could just be getting a weak signal and its struggling to hold onto the signal (as mine does sometime when I take my laptop into the bedroom, the walls are that thick that unless a couple of doors open, the signal just kinda dies for the mostpart).
