I am just wondering, as it seems the government love Bush and the United States, and they are elected by the British public to work in the interests of the British public, is it in your interest to be so in love with the United States?

Personally, I see their government as a load of muppets, who try to throw their weight around, get involved in matters that just don't concern them (when they have plenty of problems in their own back yard), and always resort to force whenever they can't get thier own way. I also don't trust them or their reasoning for most things that they do.

Given the release of the 15 prisoners today, it has been strongly suggested in the media that the only reason Iran were so ammicable about the whole situation is because Bush never got involved and flarred things up. Its many peoples opinion that if George Bush had got involved, he would have tried to be forceful and lay the law down and the situation would have escalated.

Many people on the BBC 606 service, are people from America, who have been suggesting that Britain no longer has any power and are pretty much useless. They believe we should have been more forceful and threatened military action.

I believe that to be totally untrue. I think we handled things very well (obviously Blair must have got a new advisor for this one, possibly a mokey named Monty, from Chester Zoo, given his handling of other affiars recently) and it shows that sometimes when you are diplomatic and patient with supposedly "offensive" countries, things can turn out for the good.

If they had been American, they would probably not have been released, in fact they could have been executed if Bush had of used his usualy bully tactics, the only way he knows to resolve a problem.

I think Britain would be far better off not to be so associated with the United States, in fact it would be far better to be closer associated with our neighbouring EU countries rather then the United States. Being so closely associated with the United States not only makes us a target and gives us a bad reputation across the world, but also makes us look weak in many ways, as it seems 9 times out of 10, Blair bows down to Bush and the American people see the UK quite simply as the 51st state and to be blunt, nothing important anymore.

What are your thoughts on this, and do you support our backing of the United States in everything they do? Do you agree with our handeling of the recent (well still current) prisoner situation.

I also took note of what President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran stated:

This rings very true, Blair should stop working for himself and the United States and LISTEN to what the UK public want. It has been highlighted time and time again, we don't want to be seen alongside the United States as a bully, we don't want to be sending our troops in to fight US battles, that they have caused for themselves, we want to be an independent nation, and right now, all I can see from Blair is we literally are a part of the United States.

Do You Trust And Support The United States And George Bush? Or Should The UK Become More Independent?

Yea I think we sud become more independent but just a thought that if we wernt too close to the americans and we got attacked what wud happen then, where wud we get support if we were in need of it.

I do think tho that we shouldn't follow the americans too much.

The European Union with all the member states put together is as strong as the United States. The US fignt in numbers, wheras the European armies (especially the UK army) are well known for their skill and strike rates.
