MERSEYSIDE Police are urging Wirral residents to be on their guard against a scam that could land them with a hefty telephone bill.
A card posted through letterboxes from fake company (PDS) Parcel Delivery Services (PDS) explains they were unable to deliver an item and provides a contact telephone number to arrange re-delivery.
The 0906 6611911 number is in fact a premium rate hoax originating from Belize and callers will have £15 added to their telephone account.

"This is a scam that could give people a real shock when they open their phone bills a few months after ringing the number," said Chief Inspector Phil Davies.
"As soon as people call the number and start to hear a recorded message they will already have been billed £15. Merseyside Police would urge people to exercise caution should they have to deal with items like this."
The scam is currently being investigated by the premium rate service regulator ICSTIS.
Wirral residents receiving one of the cards are advised to contact Trading Standards on 0151-691-8020 or Merseyside Police on the non-urgent number 0151-709-6010.
