I have complete faith in having it skimmed.
If its not possible to be skimmed you should be told prior to skimming at the (engineering firm).

As it stands do you know if its been skimmmed before ?
As that may change your decision too...

Hope this helps...

i can get a new engine 4 £100 then i got to get it fitted. but this will make the car harder to sell as it wont have the orignal engine.

how much would it cost to get it skimmed?
the engine seems like a good idea, but the labour costs would make it an expensive thing to do, and like you said, harder to sell on. youve gotta think about it in the long term as well. are you gonna keep the car for a while, or do you plan on selling it?

I do head skimming at work, and it may not need skimming...

It could be either a crack in the head....

In which case skimming it wouldn`t make a difference, and a new head will be needed...

OR

The head has worped and distorted either due to overheating, or just wear and tear...

We tend to skim as little as possible off and if its over 0.020" to cleam the head up, the head is scrap...

The more your skim off the more compression, and will sometimes notice an improovement in performance, but will not last very long, taking more than neccesary of...

Get the head skimmed, or at least remove the head and asses what damage has been caused....

If the head is scrap then get another head or possibly the engine you mentioned and use the head off that one ? (You will still need to have the head skimmed though once removed).

PM Me if you need any advice with it matey....
