ok i'm not personally an expert on engines etc so cant help there, but have you looked at how much you could sell your car for and buy one with a bigger engine? Probly saves a lot of hassle and that and u cud get like an old 1.6 XR2 fezzer, ther sweet as!

A CVH should drop straight in smile

Unlike the Zetec lumps theres no need to modify looms or fit an ECU etc as they run on carbs. Should just be a case of changing Engine, gearbox, exhaust, driveshafts, brakes and struts.

Weekends work tops smile

Lol, the CVH's are sooooo easy to work on smile

I took the engine out of my XR2 to do the crankshaft oil seal (Gearbox side) and refitted it one evening in the summer smile

CVH's are good for power gains, but are showing their age a little in terms of reliability

If both engines are CVH then it wont be a problem Sted, straight swap on the zorst system, engine, gearbox etc

Ya might get away with usin the brakes you got now for a while if ya wanna save a bit of money, but eventually you'll need bigger and better, so look into gettin some bigger wheels too so they'll fit in

You want the power, but you also need the ability to stop with it.

Had any quotes from anywhere on a price for doin the job?

Get the 1.6Si mk 3 fezzie mate, or if it is cheaper just buy the car and use that. If its n e thin like escorts the brakes will be ok even by ford standard. Can u believe the 1.8Si escort has the same brakes as the carbd 1.3 . Only the Gti has larger diameter and rear discs. I think the fezzie Si engine is the same zetec as the mk6 escort 1600 so itll be Injection(god im dumb, forget i wrote that), it is injection thats 4 sure, it even says S(i) go for that matey

Sted, Go for a 1600cc CVH, Engine, Gearbox, Driveshafts, Hub's, Struts, Front brakes, Full Exhaust and Carb's mate, if you got one from a 1.6 s Fiesta MK3 the whole lot simply drops into place, Very easy to do (Watch ya dont trap a finger or two smack )

Once in and running you then want a four branch exhaust manifiold with a straight through 3" pipe and a set of Twin Webber 40's with intake manifold and a hi-lift Kent Camshaft, Now that would seriously move, probably leave a RS fiesta standing.

I have done a similar conversion to a escort many moons ago and it was a flying machine....

Best shop about scrap yards for a cheap engine/box ect and then speak to dazza and some other members about where you can get it fitted cheap.

It depends on the CVH engine, some have a mechanical pump driven from the camshaft and others do have an electronic fuel pump, the doner engine would have to be checked prior to fitting.

Get a Zetec from a newer Ford. Then pay someone to position and re-mount the engine and gearbox if it doesn't already go in. Would the mounts be different on the Fiesta?

newer zetec engines are the other way round i.e the inlet manifold is at the front of the engine bay as apposed to the back which is where they are on the earlier zetecs like mine and daz's.

i think thats right anyway?
