Anyone confirm these:
Clutch- When the clutch pedal is depressed, the clutch is heard 'hissing' or 'rubbing', does this mean it's on it's way out, it's not slipping at all though. I'm putting a new flywheel in so this is coming out anyways.
Distibutor- Anyone know how to 'posisiton' these properly? I put on a brand new distributor last week, and in my haste to get back in out of the arctic weather (and darkness) I put it on as best as I could, but the idle is lumpy, and it's gyrating from 1k to 2k (and cutting out) when the engine is started. It's sounding like a knackered V6, this is definately down to this dizzy, as the displug one was fine.
Ta la's!

Clutch - Not sure
Distibutor - The trick ? It wont help you now, but you normally put a little scratch, on the dizzy and the mount. Leave it in first gear, so it dont move. And if you can chalk the timing belt if you can see it.
Solution - Get the haynes manual out and see setting the timing, you can do it manually but would need tweaking with a timing light.
All of the above works on a morris minor ?
I think thats, right but its been so long since i got me hands dirty.
Hope this helps.

Clutch sounds like the release bearing could be on its way. Not worth changing the clutch for though, they can be noisy for 1000's of miles and months before they actually pack in The dizzy position sounds like the timing just needs setting up. As a workaround, try running the engine, and rotating the dizzy till the engine runs as best as is can sound. This should make the car a little more drivable until the timing can be setup properly.

Ahh, the clutch thing seems to have gotten quieter this morning, maybe due to it being a bit warmer. Vauxhalls tend to change manners when the weather changes! I'll put it on the list of 'to do in the new year' then.
I put a whole new distributor on, so there are no scores on the casing, the idle was fine before I changed it, so I'm putting it down to the diz, I'll try the rotation thing. Strangely enough, my fuel consumption has improved about 30%. I'll sort the actual mechanic timing out when I get the new pulleys on.
Thanks fellas!!
