Got a supercharger off ebay. These things cost 2000 grand (allegedly), but got it for 60 quid, it's out of a Mini Cooper 's'. It's too big to fit in the GSi's engine bay, there is no room at all thanks to the power steering, if it was RHD, it would have been hunkydory. Doing a bit of research at the moment.

I'll have to move the alternator to fit it in and have some kind of bulge in the bonnet, but keeping it in storage til the summer, not doing it now in the p*ssing rain!!

How big is a supercharger ? What's the diametions? As the pic makes it seem like a small unit? Or is it sitting on your tea tray? Looks Nice

interesting investment would be good if you did manage to fit it, how much gain in power would you be looking at if you got it on the engine?

Quite a bit of work. This is what it will look like (this is is a Tigra, a much smaller engine bay): I'd need: ECU, injectors (and fuel rail) and pistons from the turbo engine New pulleys (three altogether) Intercooler Anciliaries (belt, hoses, etc) and other bits I haven't much knowledge of forced induction, and I'm guessing the amount of work will far outweigh the amount of money spent!! I'm hoping in 6 months time I'll have the knowledge to do it all. The charger is quite small, you can get much bigger ones for about 20 times the money, hence why I have it!

How do they work? Can I fit one to my 3.2 V6 Vectra? If so, I'll start to modify this amd lower it. Nice to get more power out of this beast!

The difference between a turbo charger and a super charger is: Turbo uses a turbine spun from the exhaust gases, which spins another turbine pushing air into the inlet, suffers from lag, Supercharger runs 'electrically' via a belt attached to the drive.
What's the bhp of the V6, you'd be spending serious coinage on that, I've checked, they're 6 grand upwards, but you'll be expecting stupid amounts of torque. The mini one I have will maybe give me about 15 bhp, if that!!!
