I suspect the sewer was there long before the Bypass was built and I believe about 8 to 10 metres deep at that point so it would be undisturbed by the arrival of the bypass.

The underpass is about 100 metres away from where I think the sewer passes under the bypass an is nothing to do with it.

I recall seeing it emerging into the sewage works before it was upgraded and it was quite fast flowing maybe a metre in diameter and maybe 50cm deep so it's a considerable tunnel. I think it was the only input to the works before the Dell pumping station contribution was added.

As a matter of interest just after the Beaconsfield works was upgraded (£1 billion I believe) I got chatting to one of the United Utilities men when the Dell pumping station was being built who told me that a week or two after it was finished a once in a 100 year downpour flooded the place and one poor fellow had to swim for his life! I bet he won't forget that any time soon!

I found this

https://www.hslc.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/74-6-Rideout.pdf

Page 119 has a paragraph describing the stream in question but not naming it.

It is said to flow into the pool between Lower Road and Windy Bank which takes it into the garden of the Leverhulme Hotel now. There is a pool there, but I can't see it connected to the sewer which probably runs much deeper..
