My grandparents used to live in Price Street, off Bebington Road, New Ferry. Was this what is now called Windsor Close and when was the name changed? I suppose the numbers would have remained the same. Was it to avoid confusing with Price Street, Birkenhead?
Price Street, New Ferry, is in the 1938 Directory, I don't think they would have changed the name to avoid confusion, they must have existed along with Birkenhead Price St for many years. Perhaps Windsor is not exactly where Price St was and Price St has just been made redundant.

I can get a hit for Price Street, New Ferry, Liverpool Echo, September 1999 and before, also many hits for Windsor Close, New Ferry, 60s, 70s, proof they at one time existed together.

The British Newspapers I can't open, not subscribed and can only fiddle with it. The newspaper report was 1999 but was looking for someone who once lived in Price St. Price St reports seem to end about 1950 ish and Windsor Close start about 1954 ish. Looking at the end of the road, it's opposite the house that juts out in Bebington Rd, so yes, same road. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks both. I'm convinced it's the same street, from the attached comparisons. I went to St Johns School in the war and knew they lived adjacent. Some houses are post-war and theirs, No.44, looks pre-war but modernised. Hope you agree. They left there some time between 1938 and 1947, moving to Moreton. There was no census in 1941, alas. Many thanks.
A census is not released until 100 years after the event, I can access the 1939 register for you, if you can't, will need names and year of birth, may help narrow it down a bit.
