Don’t see how you can blame the police for doing their difficult job of breaking up large gatherings in view of the virus. These people were asked to not do gatherings but maybe to light candles in memory of this poor girl Sarah but no , selfish idiots in my view chose to disregard everyone else and do this.
It was an awful crime and it to be a serving policeman is horrific. I just don’t see what these marches etc would do to make women safer as the perpetrators of these murders will carry on regardless.
R.i.P Sarah ...

Those same people will sit at home and watch the news and condemn young people having raves or football supporters celebrating a win, yet they expect to be treated differently.

God help us,
Come yourself,
Don't send Jesus,
This is no place for children.

A terrible crime, made worse because it was a PC but the campaign organiser did cancel the vigil and asked for doorstep vigils instead. Those who gathered were fully aware of the consequences and simply decided to carry on expecting public sympathy to get them through. The actual campaigns, like so many others (e.g. clapping for nurses) rarely achieve anything other than allow some people to get themselves a stage for their 5 minutes of fame.

I can understand why they want to hold a vigil, but they all knew they were not allowed to, and still did it anyway. This new narrative, just because it is a met officer being charged, let's turn it against the police, and let's sack Dick if she doesn't resign.
There is a lot of women saying we need to take back control of our streets to feel safe. How will this make any difference to the perpetrators of these crimes? I'd say none.

This Couzens bloke was no ordinary met officer, if it was him, he is a very dangerous man. He was a highly trained armed guard to many powerful people and diplomats visiting high profile buildings in London.

'Couzens served in the Met's Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command. The armed unit is responsible for guarding the Parliamentary estate, including Downing Street and the Palace of Westminster, as well as embassies in London.

Will UK implement 6pm curfew for men?

"Incredible how normal it is for women to be told not to go out alone after dark. Yet how strange and inexplicable this would seem if the same instruction - or even a curfew - were issued to men."

The case has provoked a debate about why it is women who are told to change their behaviour when walking alone at night. We know it won't happen but most of us will understand the reasons why this is being talked about.

It's hard to gain an accurate picture of the event from the few snippets seen on the media, but I get the impression that it started off as a quiet respectful vigil (despite people having been told not to attend) and eventually turned nasty after dark, perhaps because a certain element within the crowd was looking for confrontation. The woman that featured in some news clips was really pushing and shoving at the police officers before she was restrained. I think the family of the dead woman must have been very distressed at the way it turned out. Were the confrontational crowd members thinking of them at all, I wonder?

Probably a small group or a few loose cannons kicked it off, from the few clips I viewed it looked like some were intent on stirring things up, the police could have used loud hailers and maybe asked people to light their candles place them in a row and move off, a difficult situation, but non the less they were warned not to attend and to that end they are no different than anyone else who flouts the rules, if exceptions are made then any sort of control will be open to interpretation or argument of the rules.

I do not understand this need for hundreds of people to congregate to show their displeasure at a heinous(or any other act). The guy was caught and will be processed. I remember the Vietnam War protests in the 60's, in fact I was in one of them an was taken into custody. Nowadays it all seemed like a waste of time.
