One thing you notice is that everyone is so well dressed, even most of the youngsters are suited and booted. I noticed a lot of collection bags on long sticks and a lot of blacked up men with collection tins which wouldn't go down too well today.
From 6.02, is that Birkenhead market in the background?
Following after the Laird Bros model ships comes the Birkenhead Corporation models at 8.38, what were they? I didn't know the corporation designed any ships.
There were glass-cased models of the Lairds-built 1920s and '30s steamers, like 'Claughton', in the Woodside terminal, after the pay boxes obviously. At least one anyway. Probably donated by Lairds. That was in the '50s, when I was commuting in good weather!
