I think we all remember Hatton in the way the media and Tories portrayed him. Since then documents have been released showing what he was fighting against and what he was achieving, like Scargill and many others, he was right to fight and dig his heels in. I'm not saying he was goody two shoes but overall he probably did more good than harm in his attempts to both fight against the Government's attempts to decline the north and expose them for what they were. Derek Hatton is the 72 year old that was also arrested with Anderson. Hatton was a thug who had links to organised crime. He's had a successful career as a property developer. Just goes to show that inside every socialist is a perfectly good capitalist struggling to get out. Scargill on the other hand was just an arrogant little tit. He expected the power workers to go out in support of the miners and set off a chain of events leading to a national general strike. The power workers were not stupid enough to put their jobs on the line. If that had happened, Thatcher would've declared a state of emergency and sent the army in to run the power stations.

The thug that started the chain reaction was Thatcher.
