Another case of a Fire Officer having facial injuries from a brick thrown at the Fire engine. Birkenhead, but doesn't pin point place of the incident.

Woodchurch, a bonfire extravaganza went on for about an hour, two nights ago. It was late too as I was in bed, so must have been after 9.30 and beyond. Police and Fire service (I believe) in attendance, but police had fireworks thrown at them and so were unable to intervene. Two people later arrested and rumour has it, they have been find £10,000 each. Although I;m not sure it that is correct... or just local chat .

These are the pople who complain about starving kids and food banks ... and yet support spending an absolute fortune on fireworks which do nothing IMO than make a bloody big noise. That's not fun, that's pure lunacy .

There was more fireworks last night than normal.
Probably because there weren't any public displays.

Love watching organised displays but there should be (I think there is) a ban on selling fireworks before the 5th or New years eve. My poor dogs had to be sedated as they were petrified but thats not possible if theyre set off before the official days. The parents of any child using fireworks unsupervised should be held responsible & fined

I have been reading some of the responses from the local community on social media, allegedly this organised bonfire happens every year with the approval of the council and is always attended by the police who enjoy the displays, no fireworks were thrown at the emergency services and everything was well organised and the police left after shaking hands and thanking us for leaving, this was obviously concocted by a budding Enid Blyton although some of the wording was peppered with expletives toward all those that would deny their community and kids a bit of pleasure because they love their kids and everyone is jealous because they have the best community, lets hope Arrow Park Hospital doesn't have to cater for the best community.

I thought that this year bonfires & firework displays were banned. On the video I saw there was no organised event,no adults just a gang of youths causing trouble for the police who drove away before things got worse.Certainly no shaking of hands this year Casper ,theres a pandemic perhaps in previous years when things were more acceptable & council approved events went ahead including those at Birkenhead Park, Leasowe,Central Park & Lingham Lane .All well attended & well organised but not last night on the Beechwood. Who would have accepted responsibility if one of those kids lost an eye or a hand

This one was about Woodchurch lincle, I would be interested to know if the council have agreed to let them do this in previous years as stated, I very much doubt this as organised displays must conform to strict guidelines and safety regulations, but you never know they might have pandered to keep the piece.

According to my local grapevine, they do it every year at Woodchurch , but in all honesty it must have been a whole lot bigger and longer than previous years as although its difficult to pinpoint direction , I can;t remember one going on so long in the past, never so loud and never so late, to the point of screaming 'shut the ... up '! ,

There have been unofficial ones everywhere going on for years and the police just tend to let them be because of the sheer numbers that attend. This year is different though, and one in Woodchurch knew this and probably thought they woud get away with it by holding it a few hours before the national lockdown kicked in. Oh how wrong they were.

In my area in the old days Larch Rd, Dingle Rd and that area we used have our bonfire next door at No. 10 Dingle Rd. It was a bomb sight as the house fell down when Christ Church Claughton was bombed.
