Surely that is not just in one month ?

That was August's figures, I'll do some previous months as well if you want.

Before everyone starts blaming Birkenhead, here are the two separate areas, noting the first has a higher population and higher area ...

Birkenhead, Bebington, Bromborough,Thornton Hough, Heswall areas totalled 1641

Barnston, Greasby, Hoylake, Leasowe, Meols, Moreton, Thurstaston, Wallasey, West Kirby areas totalled 1278

Other crime - 35
Other theft - 139
Possession of weapons - 15
Public order - 257
Robbery - 6
Shoplifting - 143

Just realised that this excludes most traffic offences and probably other ticketed offences.

It's the violent and sexual offences that I'm shocked about.

Birkenhead has a higher population of drug fuelled idiots. Ask any taxi driver where they least like picking up and dropping off on the Wirral. Birkenhead wins hands down. Or spend an evening on Charing Cross......40 years ago it was a different story. Now the place is a crime ridden drug tip.

Same problems round the whole country, Birkenhead isn't even in the top 10 for drugs or alcohol problems. Middlesborough, Blackpool, Stoke, Hartlepool, Tower Hamlets etc all have a worse drug problem than Birkenhead. Generally I have more problems with drunks than druggies though the worst are those that are on both.

Worst road on Wirral for crime in August 2020 was Cedar Street on the edge of the Woodlands Estate. I walked through that regularly a couple of years ago (a few times every week) and never felt the least bit unsafe even at night. There are many other areas where I'd be on alert if I was passing through on foot.

Wirral's biggest problem at the moment is the young teens (under 16s) which is replica of how it started in the early 1980s on the Ford. The figures for them are mostly hidden as instead of prosecutions they get put on programmes etc when they eventually get so extreme that something is actually done about them.

Birkenhead did come third in one national survey a few years back which was based on arrests for violent behaviour presented at police custody suites. Numbers one and two were in south London.

I have spent forty years working in mental health including a large chunk of that spent in prisons, forensic secure units and I have many years specialism in drug and alcohol addiction.

Believe me, as annoying as you might find drunks, you are far better to have one of those as your adversary on a dark night than someone under the influence of crack cocaine, chrystal meth or pcp. I spent several years attending Wirral Custody Suite on call and the fantastic team who work there will agree with that statement as will any door person.

Of course you can walk the streets safely. Who the hell is going to tackle a super hero?

Crack cocaine yes, but Crystal meth and PCP?
As far as I know, they are not a known problem in Birkenhead, Wirral, or the UK.

Incidentally, the Germans used meth during WW2.

Complete rubbish. I put my Daughters postcode in & got horrendous figures & its a cul de sac with 6 houses in it,! Maybe its the area postcode not just the individual roads but they seem to have more figures than residents.Doesnt make sense .I hate it when decent areas with decent residents are dragged down by false facts.

You did not state how you acquired your expertise in these matters but I can assure you that both readily available in Birkenhead along with many other substances which the residents greedily embrace. Crack cocaine being easier to purchase than cornflakes in certain parts.

Most western military forces have used amphetamines for troop endurance. You may also like to know that Nazi Germany invented Methadone which was originally called Adolfine and was a substitute for dwindling morphine supplies.

I'm no expert, it's just where I live. wink
They may be readily available but they are certainly not prevalent like crack.
