13.05 today, 28.9.18, stunning raptor circling on thermals over Seabank Road/Rowson Street. Could not identify for sure, but a big bird.

Could it have been a buzzard, Moonstar ? They tend to circle, but high in the sky . It's exciting to see these birds.

I see buzzards quite regularly over West Wirral - that lazy circling and the high-pitched 'mew' call reminds me that the wild places are not that far away. Fine birds they are! I'm also enjoying the skeins of geese flying over.

Buzzards where a common site in the 70s i am told but the use of ddt thinned the egg cases and resulted in their decline. They are now only getting back to sustainable levels. Ospreys are seen quite regularily as the move down from the north.
