Saudi executed a person by crucifixion the other day, I wonder if the UK negotiated a deal to supply the wood and nails?

For murder theft and attempted rape.... Apparently they behead them first then put headless corpse on a cross so not technically execution by crucifixion. Not sure what they did in this case. The capital punishment question in a different form. If stats proved that capital punishment would halve the number of murders rapes etc would it be worth it?

Yes, I can understand that they don't want others poking their noses in, but if they want to be playmates with the West, then the west can't condone what they consider to be wrong, just to appease the influential Saudi's and business deals.

Bit of a problem really, and considering there's been enough said from the West about what punishments should be for extreme Muslims , maybe we should try to look not so far back when Sadam Hussain had control of his country but had plenty of convicts locked up for various crimes . Probably radical Islamists who, when US arrived and invaded the country, were allowed to be free and US opened the doors. We shouldn't interfere, and no one has criticized the numbers of executions that happened in Egypt not so long ago, (although not crucifixion) .
Note : No one is criticizing Saudi for bombing the shit out of Yemen either or for their involvement in Syria, because it suited everyone.

Far too many double standards where oil is concerned.

We sell too much to Saudi in the form of weapons for this government to ever criticise them,

You must realise that the Conservative government has only about 50,000 members now, and gets 99% of its generous funding from 'Donors' (aka big business like BAE, and other arms manufacturers) They are not a party any more, but a rich business pressure group that can attract numerous fools to vote for them by using propaganda.

I look forward to our eventual abandonment of oil as an energy source when we can leave the middle east to sort itself out. It is no coincidence that the same government is doing all it can to discourage onshore wind and solar panels. The owners of the tory 'party' do not want to see this despite the general population being strongly in favour of it.

I believe the question posed in the OP is do the British government condone capital punishment? 25 countries still carry out the death penalty including USA and china, oh and of course Iran who carries out 82% of all capital punishment.

If a member of your family had been murdered or raped would you condone the death penalty? Does it matter who the country is and what trade deals the government do? Anyone ever used a Lenovo laptop or a Huawei phone, Chinese brands along with most consumer electronic components inside your favourite devices in the home

I'm not totally opposed to the death penalty but it should be done in the quickest and cheapest manner (eg like they euthanise horses), the idea of public displays would hopefully be seen as barbaric by most people.

Give the death penalty for Murder, Rape and Child Abuse and you can guarantee one thing, they won't re-offend.

Well Im glad you're so sure of that Dilly lol! -------------------------You never just know!!!

From November 1803,[5] a number of people in the Hammersmith area claimed to have seen, and some to have been attacked by, a ghost.[2] Local people said the ghost was of a man who had committed suicide the previous year, and had been buried in Hammersmith churchyard. The contemporary belief was that suicide victims should not be buried in consecrated ground, as their souls would not then be at rest.[6] The apparition was described as being very tall and dressed all in white, but was also said to wear a calfskin garment with horns and large glass eyes at other times.[5]

Stories about the ghost soon began to circulate. Two women, one elderly and the other pregnant, were reported to have been seized by the ghost on separate occasions while walking near the churchyard; they were apparently so frightened they both died from shock a few days afterwards.[7][8] A brewer's servant, Thomas Groom, later testified that, while walking through the churchyard with a companion one night, at close to 9:00 pm, something rose from behind a tombstone and seized him by the throat. Hearing the scuffle, his companion turned around, at which the ghost "gave me a twist round, and I saw nothing; I gave a bit of a push out with my fist, and felt something soft, like a great coat."[5]

On 29 December, William Girdler, a night-watchman, saw the ghost while near Beaver Lane and gave chase; the apparition threw off its shroud and managed to escape. With London not having an organised police force at the time, and as "many people were very much frightened," according to Girdler, several citizens formed armed patrols in hopes of apprehending the ghost.[
