There's a distinct smell of fire in Pensby/Thingwall area. Drifting in from somewhere. Just wondering if it could be Helsby Hill, or even another one. Been about for appox an hour and half.

At least two fires on Bidston Hill when I passed this morning. Yes, beaters work really well, perhaps big shoes would make it easier?

Thurstaston Hill is now on fire. Yep..we were evacuated from Dawpool School Fair where they were going to show the football on big screen. The little car park was evacuated. Fortunately the wind was blowing it more towards the coast and not the school but you could see the smoke billowing couple hundred yards away. Police shut the road through the sandstone cutting. Some bad parking in school lane was hindering the fire engine getting there. Hope the cottage loaf with its thatched roof is ok..
