If you want to give, volunteer, donate or buy, a handy site for finding charity shops is HERE unfortunately it limits results to 24 responses per search.

Currently I give large objects to the YMCA and smaller things to Wirral Animal Sanctuary, though there are other charities I help out.

Parking at the Birkenhead YMCA shop's back door is easy (once you know where it is - up ramp HERE) and a phonecall to 0151 647 1620 gets it open, or they also collect stuff.

We don't do charity in Germany, we pay taxes. Charity is a failure of governments' responsibilities - Henning Wehn

good link DD. Perhaps we need reviews on them and prices. I dont bother with some of the chain ones like Oxfam as they seem to have a corporate brand and shop layout and sell uninteresting new and a little second hand stuff at quite high prices. (sometimes higher than if buying new) .I would buy a lot more (purely as a charitable donation) if it was sensibly priced.

I like the ones that sell almost everything thats donated My favorite local ones would be Roy Castle one in Heswall and a small one opposite it. Good one in Hoylake also. usually good variety of stuff and at sensible prices. Love getting a bargain and seeing if i can make a few quid on ebay.bit of a hobby..probably best to date was a couple of Observers Books paid about 25p each and sold the pair for £150 i didnt know they were that valueable (last 2 editions printed)

I bought 7 jigsaws today for £3 from various charity shops. Once finished with- will donate back to a Charity Shop- may or may not be the same ones as purchased from.

For those interested in disposing of used toner cartridges, Office Outlet in the shopping centre by the tunnel entrance take them and donate the proceeds to charity.

I found trying to donate them to charities directly a real hassle. None of them seem to accept them at their shops. They all seem to use collection agencies which have rules that didn't suit me at all. Stuff like you must have more than 20, or they only collect HP and Epsom or some other specific brands, and they won't take compatibles etc. etc. Office Outlet takes the lot. They prefer them without the cardboard boxes though if you want to dispose of any.

That's a very impressive profit on the Observers books! I'd like to think, if I was ever lucky enough to find such a bargain - it'll probably never happen! - that I'd be in the position to be able to split the profit 50/50 with the charity. Win/win!
