New 'AdultSwine' Malware Displays Adult Images To Children the link press here to read from website

Here is what you need to know about pornography-displaying malware that has been found in multiple children's Android apps that were downloaded as many as 7 million times.

Malware that displays graphic, adult images has been found in multiple Android apps targeting children.
The new strain, dubbed AdultSwine by researchers, was found in 60 Android apps, many with child-focused names -- such as Spinner Toy for Slither and Drawing Lessons Angry Birds -- by researchers from the cybersecurity firm, Checkpoint. According to Google app store estimates, the infected programs were downloaded between 3.5 and 7 million times.
When run, the malware causes the apps in which it resides to displays popups - some of which include advertisements containing sexual imagery and others containing ads for fake security software and other problematic items. The ads load from both an AdultSwine-specific library of advertisements as well as from legitimate third-party advertisement providers (which, of course, have terms of service that prohibit partners from using their ads in such a fashion). The malware also tries to get victims to click through screens to register for unnecessary services that will cost them a bundle. Screenshots posted online of the malware running show that it can present scam screens in multiple languages - one Hebrew-based bogus contest tells a customer that to claim his/her prize he/she submit his/her phone number; of course, there is no prize, but the submitted phone number will be used to register for unwanted, costly services.
Because the malware works by downloading target links from a malware command-and-control server, it could also be extended to take other harmful actions.
Google has removed the infected apps from the Play Store, but its doing so will not protect any of the millions of people (many of whom are likely children) who have already downloaded the apps; due to the way the Android ecosystem works, Google normally cannot unilaterally delete infected apps that are already installed on devices.
The technology giant did note, however, that it will cause devices on which the poisoned apps are installed to display warnings to users. That said, as anyone who has children likely knows, children often ignore even more serious warnings.
How did this malware situation happen?
In an attempt to prevent the distribution of malware, Google - like several other operators of app stores - scans every program loaded into the Play Store; unfortunately, however, malware is not always simple to detect. There are thousands of new strains created every day, and, sometimes, harmful code cannot be identified as such without dynamically analyzing the behavior of an app within the specific context in which it occurs -- a process that often cannot be effectively done at upload time.
So, what should you do?
1. Make sure that you and your family members have security software running on all of your devices.
2. Check your children's devices for any warnings, or for the presence of any of the infected apps listed below - delete any that you find.
3. Learn about other ways of detecting that a mobile device has been hacked.

The concept of the Internet being uncontrolled is ludicrous, its similar to an honesty-bank where there are no staff or machines, just cash sitting on the desks and the customers are expected to be honest.

Hopefully it won't be long before all websites have to be secure and that will be used to control the internet, it would be a very simple procedure to block any website globally by removing its security certificate.

I can't see why this is necessary. The internet is a communication system. You don't blame a communication system for what people use it for.

What worries me is that 'scares' like this are used by repressively inclined politicians to seize control over how it can be used on the pretext of 'protecting' us. Criminal use should be used but not by throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

People send poison pen letters, but we do not suggest that every letter should be opened and examined to ensure that it is not one!

There are plenty of states where control of the internet s at least attempted with prison sentences awaiting those who misuse it by communication with people in other countries. If you want the internet controlled, you could move there and see how you like it before advocating the same thing here.

Because there is zero control of the internet for kids and criminals, its not just a communication system, it is also a distribution system.

There is no real difference between the internet and a book, magazine or DVD yet the distribution of books, magazines and DVDs are controlled and for a good reason. Absurdly the UK Government has introduced stricter controls on UK firms (eg top-shelf magazines now have to be blacked out, porn makers are restricted on what material they can make) yet the internet is a global thing.

Denmark is just prosecuting over 1000 kids and youths for making and distributing child porn. This is a very common problem, extreme and child porn is very common on kids phones in the UK and worse still they are trying to replicate the actions they see. We used to boast about possessing a rare football card, these days its collecting the vilest porn they can find.

I am also very concerned with elderly people being conned/scammed, I've seen scams that have taken me a while to understand how they work, the internet enables scammers to attempt to scam millions of people in a very short period of time at virtually zero cost.

The internet may not be the root problem depending on your viewpoint but it escalates all sorts of criminal activity to a much larger scale and in a very short period of time.

There are simple ways to control the internet even its just done on a country basis.

I am not sure that it is up to a government to control the nation's morals. They love nothing more than interfering in people's lives and this is a golden opportunity to con the public into accepting it.

If 'extreme porn' is common on children's phones you have to ask yourself if this is now a norm. You may not approve, but you don't have to look at it. As far as I can see there is little evidence of it doing any harm. indeed it may even help. The number of teenage pregnancies has fallen over the years.

If you are going to ban things, you have to demonstrate that it does harm. If you can't do so, then it isn't causing harm so why are you bothering?

The thing is that this is malware so no-one is going to download it know that it's got porn on it, so mum/dad go on a long trip by car and let the little one play a game on their phone so they're not bored to than have a game for a kid from 3+ and up to show rape or any porn is ok

Well things like anal leakage in girls under 16 is on the rise as is venereal disease.

Erectile dysfunction in young adults is on the rise.

Sex addiction in young people is on the rise.

Abusive sex is on the rise.

And if you think its ok for 8 year olds to see people pretending that parts of a dog are a lollipop then I guess that's fine in your eyes.

Little evidence that any of this - if it exists at all, and in most cases, there is no evidence that it does - is due to the internet. When I was a boy, the media were just as exercised about 'Horror Comics'. Since then we have been warned about television corrupting our morals, being 'submerged in a flood of permissiveness', idiotic trials about whether books like 'Lady Chatterley's Lover' would wreck our way of life and many other equally idiotic campaigns waged by a succession of boneheaded moral campaigners and supported by governments all too keen to keep us in our place.

The REAL threat of the internet is that it destroys the ignorance that allows national borders to keep us confined and our rulers in power. Politicians see this as a potential disaster - to them it is and they will seize any opportunity to 'regulate' it - to their way of thinking.

As pornography is already regulated I don't see extending the control to the internet is a problem. There is already a Government funded programs that does this except its not fool proof and is wholly inadequate to the scale of the problem.

Our rulers are kept in power by propaganda, the internet is massive tool for use in propaganda and is partly why the Governments haven't clamped down on it.

The internet is owned by a relatively small number of rich organisations, there are less than five-hundred undersea fibre-optic cables worldwide, these are provided by less than twenty companies. There are only about ten internet exchange points in the UK.
