DD, have you put that up for a specific reason for my benefit ? Please tell me what you are thinking. I need to know if anyone has any concerns about all this. Venice seems to, and I need straight talk and thinking. Please

It was more than a zoo, it was a theme park too.

Ah right , ok. Looks a godforsaken place now , doesnt it. What are the highly regimented 'dot' areas to the South and SE of the Aleppo -Damascus Way? Young trees? If so ,what a strange thing to plant when growing food must surely be much more important?

granny, Im a very cynical mistrustful person , its probably something and nothing , just such an unusual scenario that it seems weird, but I guess quite possible.

I don't think it's the same place, Venice, as explained above. What I am wondering about is the differing reports that have been made in the press about this rescue mission. There are conflicting reports from all over the world. Confusion sets in.

I've kept quiet about this Granny because I like Venice have concerns about this. You say no money has been asked for (yet) but he's certainly putting a drain on your emotions. Think I've got to agree with Lollipop on this , too far away and not much that one person can do to help . Think you'll have to leave it to the relevant agencies and hope that one day things will mprove over there. How does he afford to maintain a mobile phone and keep it going?

There is so much surrounding all of this, I agree , and I don't ask him any questions of the ins and outs of things, nor the political side of anything either. With that in mind, stuff I have picked up on and related to various reports, just makes everything questionable and he seems to be the pawn.

A) The owner of the Theme park/zoo was said to have fled the country in 2011 to America.
B) I found tonight a brief statement that he was kidnapped from in front of his house in March 2012.

c) One report stated that he had given the zoo keeper enough money for 15 years to look after the animals.

d) zoo keeper says, he wasn't given anything and the owner said he didn't want the animals and the zoo keeper could do what he wanted with them. But he couldn't because he didn't have the papers required ( animal passports)

e) The zoo keeper had worked for the owner for 15 yrs. That I think has been lost in translation somewhere, when it was written that he had been given enough money for 15 yrs , or in Chinese whispers.

f) it was said that the zoo keepers brother, who was killed when his car drove into a wall as he was going to get food for the animals , due to an ariel attack , that he was a member of Al Qaeda . Zoo keeper denies this and said he was a freedom fighter.
g) Al Qaeda have been diluted a lot apparently, and the USA have been backing them and the freedom fighters against all the other factions in the area. ( basically against Assad)

h) The owner of the zoo said the zoo keeper had sold endangered species of cats to his friend in Lebanon, and when his friend said "I have the cats, did you receive the money", ($40,000) he hadn't received the money. Pointing the finger at the zoo keeper

i) The zoo keeper cannot get out of the country, so he didn't take the animals to Lebanon. Money cannot be transferred into bank accounts in Syria, so he didn't get the money. $40,000 seems a heck of a lot for a couple of big cats anyway. And nobody would give that sort of money in cash to anyone, to deposit in a bank account in another country.

I also wonder that if the owner was kidnapped, it could have been by the USA, and that is how he ended up in America, if they were backing the freedom fighters .

Lets be honest everyone out there is a fighter of one sort or another, due to the very nature of the situation. Fight or be killed and slaughtered.

I believe him when he says his situation, I've seen too many pictures and videos. He also has posted a lot on his social media site, in a way of getting his story out there. So he's not hiding too much and not asking for any rewards, just for the truth to be known.

So far as his phone goes Cools, I don't know how it works out there . The whole system has collapsed so far as I can make out. This is not info from him, just my inquisitive mind, searching for some understanding. Money can be obtained from kiosks as the banks have gone under or bombed and there's probably a lot of crooked things going on,also bartering , as it does in all wars, and I'm quite sure he'd be capable of joining the happy throng if needs be.

No one can be trusted, not even the doctors as nobody knows if the doctors are genuine or not.

Fairly sure it is the same place as I found it as Magic World Zoo, Aleppo, plus you can compare the google aerial to various photos of the zoo.

Alam Al Sihr is marked as the restaurant and translates roughly to The Pain of the Charm (I guess they sell strong curries).

Its the internet, of course I have concerns. One thing that very much concerned me was your intensity, that is sometimes an indication that someone is being played, there is quite a difference between intensity and passion even though desperation links the two.

The area has been secured and the whole province was declared ISIS free in June 2017. Aleppo itself was free'd in December 2016 and most of the problem was eastern Aleppo. The Government has already spent more than $7bn on repairs in Aleppo in that time, its developed enough that electricity was returned to Aleppo in September 2017. All indications are that it is unlikely there is an area surrounded by rebels.

Don't shoot the messenger, I'm not 100% but balance of probabilities makes me more than concerned. Try asking a tricky question like the tail number of the aeroplane outside the zoo, I doubt anyone can find that answer easily on the internet.

Hey , I saw that too and wondered why there would be an aeroplane on such good nick in such a shattered place.
This is the trouble, too many unanswered questions, and I know you are pointing me in the right direction for which I am grateful.

My greatest involvement with this has been the animals, contacting the rescue centres and getting updates on the progress of them. I do think he is getting past the trauma of all that, so once I know he is moving forward a bit, I will abandon . As you say Aleppo, is getting a bit on it's feet now, although in the Western outskirts where they are, there was continued 10 days of fighting which only stopped last Thursday at his area .
That plane is a mystery !

ISIS free, but two other groups have been battling since then.Far too many groups to get a handle on it.

I can't find any reference to that, the South West has been the evacuation route since last year.

granny SOHR is a one man band who isnt even in Syria, hes in Coventry. I wouldnt rely on any reporting from his source as being very accurate, more heresay.

Im glad youre thinking of stepping back a bit , I think you do more than your fair share of worrying about both animals and people, and you must be careful not to allow yourself to get too drained as cools said.

The UN seem to give credence to SOHR, and Amnesty says it is 'generally ,very good'. So, I don't know.
