Any ideas please.

Games for 3 pre-school age children, and a 5 yr old.

Outdoor games or indoor games

They have nothing. When I say nothing I mean nothing. Living in a forest without trees and grass.

It won't make sense to you , but that's how it is.

So far I have thought of

Egg and spoon

Snail Hopscotch

Pass the parcel( stone)

Dancing and singing

Items hidden in a box or tin, and they have to remember them.

These children need stimulation in the most basic ways.

Oh hell !

I'll tell you the story, then it makes it more sense.

Syria ! There is a little family, Dad, 4 children and 75yr old granny. Granny is ill and doesn't know what is the matter.

Can't afford a doctor, and doctor probably can't get through anyway.

Unicef, won't deal with individual families.

Save the Children are unable to give assistance unless the family can reach them or a point of help.

They are living in a massive bombed out place on their own. Far in the country in a rebel held area. Described by their dad as a forest (but not like the forests we know).

Granny and the 4 children sleep in one area on a mattress together. They are eating lots of eggs.

They have no electricity or hot water. They cannot go anywhere because they are trapped. Nobody can get to them because of the rebels blocking roads.

They cannot wash their clothes and dry them now it is cold.

No money can be sent because the banks block the transactions to Syria. (probably couldn't pick it up anyway.)

The mother of the children left them and fled.

They have no body else anywhere and the children are lonely for the company of other children, making them fractious and being like any other bored children would be.

No pencils, crayons, books , or anything.

Not able to send parcels of clothes or anything either.

This has been their little lives for the last 4/5 years.

I've been trying to think of things that will give granny a rest as she is raising them on a daily basis, and also for their development and keeping them occupied.

Any and all suggestions will be welcome. Thank you.

We are so damn lucky, and still we complain. cry

I'd think money or goods that they could trade would be more relevant for the situation, gives them much more flexibility to meet their needs.

I'd be concerned how you expect anything to get there?

The awful, terrible reality is that there will not be just one family in such a situation and there is precious little we can do as individuals apart from lobbying the powers that be to end this horrible war.

I don't expect anything to get there. That is what I was trying to point out. There isn't even an address, so far as I know.

I was trying to ask for ideas of games, to keep the children occupied and interested. Games where they don't need anything apart form their health and nature.

Sorry, maybe I didn't quite get the point across. Who would they trade with ? There's no one, i.e. unless they go into the zone were and the rebels would probably take anything they had including their lives.

You are right Salmon, probably many more hiding from fear. It's so helpless and the world looks on, unable to do anything.

Is this just hypothetical? How are you in communication with them?

Sorry , I was bit irate at the moment.

For all the charities in the world and all the institutions, they can do nothing.
Phoned GP surgery ( I didn't want to waste their time initially)and gave the back ground and symptoms of the granny. Well we would have to see her to diagnose. All I wanted was some advice on whether or not a gentle form of exercise could relieve the pain a bit, and if it could be worse for her if the symptoms were due to a more serious complaint. No they say, we'd have to see her.

FFS !

Add to that, Save the Children told me to phone my MP !!

Could he tell where the nearest point of contact is out there if they are at some point able to reach civilisation ? No, look on our webpage.
I look on the webpage and there's nowt indicating anything, just 'give us your money'.

Seriously, how do you communicate in an isolated spot surrounded by rebels and no electricity.

Itís a sad world out there, be careful.

He has an unpaid job not too far away which he attend . So I assume he has electricity there to charge a mobile. As nobody ended up getting paid after the owner jumped ship and flew off to a better place, all the other workers left. He is on his own there.

He hardly knows English and so every communication I translate. Not always exact either.

There are a couple of other people in touch with him from UK, and I think he just wants to have some sort of outside contact with the world. I am being careful, and at this point nothing has been raised which is questionable. He is not wanting money, and a) I wouldn't send any b) as stated earlier it won't reach him, and I think is ok for food as he has sheep ,goats and some sort of egg laying birds. Apart from that I don't know.

Do you think I'm being silly DD or not being very smart with this guy , if you know what I mean ?

Anyway, the prime question was about kids games, which I can send instructions for from youtube. New ideas to keep the kids out of granny's hair. I can't remember any of the old fashioned game really apart from top and whip and they won't have those.

This is the area. Looks like there might be a glimmer light at the end of the tunnel.

No I don't think so , because I didn't say they couldn't get word out. I think I said they had nobody else, meaning family.( I think I did)

It's funny how we read and pick up a different a message. Not having a pop assasin, we all do it , it just seems odd the way we anticipate.
