I hope this works out for them as well. Going to take alot of money though because it's a real mess. It would be brilliant for the kids and community if it can be saved and made usable again. wish them luck...
I think part of the plan would be to apply for a lottery grant every year until they succeed. In the mean time they need to stabilise what they have got to make sure it doesn't deteriorate any further.
The Council must believe in them, as they are getting harder to convince on these community takeover deals recently.

Oh Wow, really impressed with how Byrne Ave Baths us progressing. The sports hall looks great! A lot of hard work and anguish gone into that , a big congrats to all involved.

Not sure Ste, I presume it's what they call the small pool/ sports hall. Just saw this pic and considering the state of the place ( thought it wouldn't happen ) when they first showed it , great progress! Would love to see the old place in use again .
That looks like the ceiling of the main pool nicely restored. Maybe they are working from the top down in the restoration because the walls still need work. Any pictures of what it looks like under that scaffolding Cools?
Good luck to them. It brings back memories of many a night spent dancing there. Including dancing to the music of Ross Mcmanus (Ronnie) Elvis Costellos Dad.
Whoa, that is the first time I have seen the baths since about 1960. I was about 9 years old and was watching these two 7 years olds with 1 arm each actually swimming. I should be able to do that with 2 arms. So I did. Seeing this photo brought it all back and going there for our school swimming carnival.
