Anyone any thoughts yet ?

Another 24hrs of news from BBC about Brexit.

I think EU will be particularly nasty and punish us , using us as an example.

They're all panicking because they wont have our money to support the poorer EU countries, and the more wealthy countries don't want to pay anymore money out. Tough !

We are in a position of strength on every count, if the EU try and punish us then they punish themselves even more.

No free trade agreement: We import more than we export with the EU, therefore under WTO rules we will collect more duty and without the EU's rules we can use that duty to subsidise our exports to the EU so British Industry can remain competitive inside the EU despite a duty being levied.

No single market: Doesn't matter, even if nothing is settled there would be agreements put in place very quickly after our final leaving date.

They claim £50bn off us then we claim £130bn in EU assets that we are currently owners of. They cannot say we own our future debts if we don't own our current assets.

If the UK really wanted do, we could do a right number on the EU and possibly kill the Euro (and German banks) in the process, they know this and after all the posturing you may have noticed that as of today they are already speaking in smoother tones. You could guarantee the financial institutions wouldn't be wanting to move to Europe any longer, indeed there would be quite a few wanting to move here.

In reality most EU countries have a lot of sympathy with us, it is Germany we are fighting yet again.

It concerns me that we can't trust the Conservatives, all sorts of background dealing could go on, I would feel a lot safer if Farage was in on the team.

All the talk about Theresa May organising European laws to be brought into British statute is rubbish, it already is the case, Europe does not make laws, it requires that all member states write the laws into their own statute books. The only thing we have to re-write is getting the European appeal courts out of our lives.

Unlike many other EU countries, we are not dependent upon the EU, it would take a lot of courage for most of the other countries to leave the EU

60% of our agricultural exports go to the EU.

And we buy food, lots of it, in from the EU, and we sell food, not so much, but a lot of what we DO sell, to the EU.

And given that it's not practical to run two separate production facilities, one for domestic and one for export, we will basically have to continue to abide by the EU GM laws.

This is a microcosm, but a good example of how it's going to work in a large number of cases.

What we've lost though, is the ability to contribute to forming those EU laws.

We have no say, but they will stay apply. Nice one, really "taking back control".

Second and Third. The top one is the owner of the Schaeffler Group.

What will happen with projects such as HS2. Formerly thought to be purely a UK Government idea, but apparently it's a project from Brussels, which would fall in line with the German influence and ownership of rail throughout Europe.

Arriva which is German owned and numerous other rail companies in UK are also owned by Germany, Holland, and France. In fact Holland initially owned Arriva so Germany must have done an under the covers deal there too.

Massive take-overs and buy-outs over the years, which seem in many areas to have overall culminated in German or French ownership. It makes me so annoyed. What has UK been left with as purely under UK ownership.

Casper, I think I prefer Mrs May to handle this whole transition than Mr Cameron at the same time I am quite sure Mr Blair, Mr Mandelson, and Mr Major will be beavering away in the back rooms somewhere, to cause upset ,divide and maximum damage to alter any possible chance of a smooth exit. They are obviously involved somewhere along the line and it's so very strange they have completely gone off the radar since their last plea to the public. Not a sniff of them anywhere.

Agree with TM being better than her predecessors to negotiate I think she has purposely put on a thatcher image who the EU generally feared.

If HS2 has been promised any EU funding then that should be deducted from the £50bn as under their own rules future debts have to be settled. It's a rogue project in my mind anyway.

well, we'll be getting UK passports again, and that has to be one very good thing in our favour.

Just read this, maybe they had an EU passport, plenty have and then allowed to go where they wish in the EU ?

I hope these are served with the punishment the crime demands, and deported if they are not UK citizens.
