Bit of an awkward one to know how to feel. Large proportion of his life killing for a cause the other half perhaps trying to make some recompense.
The reactions of victims families is not surprising and he will get the blame for being IRA commander etc but our Govt are equally guilty of killing innocent people in middle east and elsewhere. We praise the French Resistance for their efforts against the Nazis. One mans freedom fighter is another mans terrorist. Would like to believe he is facing divine justice.

Two innocent boys in Warrington! How can that ever be justified? A cowardly attack as most of them were.

Plain and simple fact he was he was a murderer and should be remembered as such instead of all the hype of him becoming a peace keeper.

He was killing his own people ! He will be remembered for that, and it will be his legacy. None of this 'bad turned good' rubbish. And to think our Queen had to shake his hand . Ugh !

BBC will, because its another news story to make a whole day of news from. They'll have him as a 'Saint' by the end of the day.

Pretty much the same as Mandela, started off as a freedom fighter/terrorist/murderer and developed into an accepted respectable member of society. You have to remember the origins of both disputes.Oppression by a ruling/governing body.

Ive just come away from our tea break table here on my night shift.

Its not so divided, there is lots of praise for Mr McGuinness. Out of a shift if 12, not 1 mentioned any terror attack he might have been involved in. Over 20 years I've lived here and I've worked here over 10. Tonight I had very little to say for a change. I kept my exact thoughts if the man, to myself.

He was a criminal who avoided prosecution by becoming a politician.
