The retailer is responsible for faulty goods and this TV is plainly faulty. Just take it back to Argos.
They may try to fob you off by referring you to the manufacturer, but quote the Consumer Rights Act, which came into force in 2015, replacing the
Sale of Goods Act.
This makes plain that the retailer is responsible and gives you a right to a repair or refund.
If Argos are unhelpful, send them a letter as outlined here ...
http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rig...a-faulty-item-to-be-repaired-or-replaced... I sent a letter like this to B and Q after they told me they were not responsible for a faulty electric saw I'd bought there and referred me to the manufacturer. The response was amazing. I got a phone call next day from the store manager inviting me in to chose a new saw.
