Hi I Cannot open my Tailgate on my Meriva 2010 CC17 AUTOMATIC Intermittent, the rubber touchpad ,seems to be the fault, not the locking mechanism.Who is it best to go to normal garage or an auto electrician. and is this an expensive repair Can someone please advise me

Option Complaint Tailgate or trunklid does not open. Cause Defect of the tailgate/trunklid release switch. Production
Remedy

In case of customer complaint that tailgate or trunk lid does not open,
do not replace the latch assembly, striker, control module or wiring
harness. Do not attempt to re-align the latch assembly or striker.

If DTC(s) are not set, replace the tailgate/trunklid release switch.

Thanks For reply I will contact Lookers tomorrow And ask them But I was worried that main dealers are so expensive for repairs .like this.

I believe the "book" price for the job is around £130 from Vauxhall dealers, however if you quote "Technical Service Bulletin 2820" it sometimes gets done for free or at least they should negotiate a contribution with the concessionaires.

Judging from the price it might be a fiddly job.

But of course this may not be the fault in this instance.

It may also be worth a chat to Vauxcare by Cammell Lairds (screwfix) who are an independent Vauxhall repairers, they may have come across it before and be able to give a reliable quote.

Thankyou DD for all your help. With the new year break I will have to wait till service Dept at Lookers is open, all the info you have provided has been a great help Will let you know how I get on next week . smile

Good response and advice DD
I have recently had my own problems (seat belt roller fail) with a 2010 Meriva and associated dealings with Network Q. There was a contribution to the replacement cost from Vauxhall but it still cost me near £180
