I saw it coming... it was on Click last weekend.
Toshiba havent officially pulled the plug; there is just speculation that they will do so; meaning their shares have gone up in anticipation.

Besides which, Microsoft are still backing HD-DVD even though Toshiba are expected to quit.
Vista doesnt like BD yet.

What's gonna happen to the 360 if they do completely pull the plug on the format? And surely PC recorders will still be fine for recording tonnes of data? I think there is stilla lot of life in it yet; just like RDRAM even when Intel pulled the plug on that, only this has more potential.

Maybe on reflection from the news report, it was geared towards the "Home DVD Player"
So that may be where Blue Ray may have won. But in the other sectors who knows.
The question is, after this announcement today will the prices come down or go up? Blue Ray Players?
Apparently its the sales in the states thats driven this decision.

Blu-ray will probably go up for a while knowing what Sony are like... HD-DVD players will probably be pulled altogether... but if you can find anywhere selling them off cheap, get one; Laserdisc players in mint condition can go for shed loads nowadays!
