OK, here's Grandad to try & answer some of the questions.
The cinema near Argos was the Ritz; I know because I was a projectionist there for about a year. The manager's name was Bill Boht. Since tis is an unusual name, I think he was related to Jean Boht (Bread), maybe her father.
One of the things that was where the Pyramids is was St.John's Church. It was just on the Borough Rd. side of Grange Rd., almost opposite where TKMaxx is now. That used to be a big CO-OP department store; furniture & the like. Years before, before my time, it was a music hall called Ohmy's Circus. Grange Rd. had a slight bend to the right here (coming down from Charing Cross). There were short streets of housing between Grange Rd. & Borough Rd. Grange Rd. was the major shopping St. of the town.
Yes, I remember the CO-OP on Woodchurch. I don't think it was a shop, just a huge warehouse, or maybe a factory. There used to be the CO-OP dairy half way up Swan Hill too.
Tesco Bidston? think that's where Bidston steel works was.
Anyone know the Mount Estate? I remember when that was allotments during the war; used to play in the old chicken sheds there after they were abandoned after the war; started some good fires there too.
I've been up for a little visit today; I'm planning a small project which may be ready by tomorrow: watch this space.
Cheers, Chris.

Wasn't the COOP at Woodchurch called Leo's for a while?
- I vaugely remember Arrowe Park hospital opening - New Brighton open air baths - flipping freezing but packed with people in the summer - Kwik Save in Prenton burning down and lots of the stock being given away for free when it was refurbed! - Lairds still building ships - had a school trip to see HMS Cambelltown being launced, then going bust, starting again, going bust etc - Mersey Ferries being blue
You've really got me started no!
